LONE PINE TELECOMMUNICATION TOWER PROJECT
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Lone Pine Wind Project LP. (Lone Pine) is proposing to construct the Lone Pine Wind Farm Project, which is a wind energy project located in Kneehill County, about 15 kilometres west of Three Hills, Alberta. The Lone Pine Wind Farm Project includes constructing and connecting a new substation and transmission line to the electric transmission grid.
As part of connecting Lone Pineʼs new facility to the grid, ATCO is proposing to install a new telecommunication tower to maintain the safety and reliability of the electric system in the area.
ATCO's proposed Lone Pine Telecommunication Tower (the Project) will be located within Lone Pineʼs proposed Dry Island 1027S substation site located in NE 33-31-25 W4M. It will consist of a self-supported lattice tower that will be approximately 25 metres (m) tall, including two (2) antennas and installation of related electrical and telecommunication equipment. The tower will only support ATCO equipment at this time.
November 2024 update: ATCO would like to inform you that the Project is not proceeding at this time. In addition, the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) has cancelled the system access service request for the Project.
If you have questions regarding the cancellation of the Project, please contact AESO at 1-888-866-2959 or stakeholder.relations@aeso.ca.
