BUFFALO CREEK TRANSMISSION PROJECT
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The proposed Buffalo Creek Transmission Project (the Project) is located near the Village of Mannville. The Project will reinforce and upgrade the transmission system capability of the central east sub-region and to ultimately improve capacity in the Lloydminster area.
The Project will consist of building a new 144 kilovolt (kV) transmission line (to be called 7L205) from the existing 7L65 transmission line to a new substation (to be called Drury 2007S). The Project will also include building a new single circuit 240 kV transmission line (to be called 7L333) from Drury 2007S substation to the ATCO Electric Ltd. and AltaLink Management Ltd.’s (AltaLink) service territory boundary.
AltaLink will complete the transmission line from the service territory boundary to the Nilrem 574S substation near the Town of Hardisty. Details on the AltaLink portion of the Project can be obtained by contacting AltaLink.
September 2021 - the Project is currently on hold and being re-assessed. Details on next steps will be shared with stakeholders as they are available.
